We walk it first.
A place goes nowhere near the book until someone here has spent a season in it — long enough to learn which week is worth flying for, and which four months are a waste of everyone’s money.

Why the list stays short
A long list is easy to print. This one stays short enough to leave for tomorrow.
Four rules for what earns a place in the book.
01
A place goes nowhere near the book until someone here has spent a season in it — long enough to learn which week is worth flying for, and which four months are a waste of everyone’s money.
02
You are not handed to whoever the local agency has free that week. The person who built the route walks it with you, and has walked it often enough to know what to do on the morning it goes wrong.
03
Every week carries spare days with nothing booked in them. They are the most expensive thing we sell, and they are the reason that when the weather finally breaks at five in the morning, we can be standing in it.
04
Wrong season, wrong month, wrong week for what you came for — we say so, and we lose the booking. The list stays short because refusing is most of the work.

Founder, on the ground
He spends more nights in the field than at home. If you are waiting somewhere at five for the light, he planned that morning.

Name a month and a direction. Someone in the house replies with a route, or with a plain refusal.
